THE GOAL:

The dog goes through the hoop, taking the barrel in a tight manner and going back through a hoop.

After you started training the tunnel and the barrel, you can start with a hoop and the barrel. You can train both at the same time in one training. One round tunnel and the barrel, the other hoop and the barrel.

STEP 1:

  • Place your dog before the hoop in a sit, stay or laying down position, facing the barrel through the hoop.

  • Place the toy or the food behind the dog.

  • Stand between the hoop and the barrel. The closer you are to the barrel, the easier will be for the dog to do a tight turn.

  • Release your dog, give the command for the tight turn then forward and lastly the command they can pick up the toy or take the food.

  • Sincerely reward your dog with a little play and telling them they did a good job.

STEP 3:

  • Start throwing the toy or a toy with food inside for the dogs who aren’t crazy about toys.

  • Throw the toy in line of the dog coming from the barrel to the hoop, when you see your dog has the intention to go through the hoop.

STEP 2:

  • After every successful try, stand closer to the hoop or more to the side, so the dog will have to do a tight turn even if you are farther away.

STEP 4:

  • Play with your standing position. Closer or farther from the barrel, more or less distance from the obstacles.

  • For an added challenge stand after the hoop, so you are not between the barrel and the hoop.
