Toy/food behind the dog

THE GOAL:

The dog goes tightly around barrel wherever you stand.

STEP 1:

• Put your dog in a sitting or laying down position on the start. Have them facing the barrel.

• Put the toy or food behind the dog.

• Send the dog around the barrel with your new command.

• After the dog goes around the barrel tell them to pick up their toy or food.

STEP 2:

• Gradually put more distance between the barrel and you with the dog.

STEP 3:

• Then slowly put the distance on the side between the dog and you.

STEP 4:

• Play with different variations where you put the dog and where you are standing.

• Don’t forget to put the toy or food directly behind the dog every time, that will encourage the dog to turn tight around the barrel, even if you are more to the side.
